Frequently
asked questions
Here are a handful of the most common
questions we receive from prospective clients. If you don't
find this page helpful, please take to a moment to call
or contact
us via email. We'll make sure your question is answered
promptly.
1. Who needs home care?
A senior who is lonely may become
anxious and distressed. In this case a companion can make
a world of difference. Furthermore, there are five "activities
of daily living" (ADLs) that people perform to survive
and function in daily life. These are feeding, dressing,
toileting, hygiene and ambulation.
If individuals are not able to
perform any one or more activity of daily living for themselves,
other ADLs may be affected as a consequence and assistance
is required.

2. How much does home care cost?
Home care is the best value and most comprehensive form
of care available. HomeWell Care Managers arrange economical
solutions by using an innovative assessment tool designed
to calculate the fewest number of hours needed for a senior's
specific care plan. Each HomeWell office is independently
owned and operated and rates vary.

3. Why are your caregivers called Personal
Assistants?
HomeWell clients retain their dignity
by knowing they are “assisted” in any number
of activities, as well as having care provided for them.
It is also important for our Personal Assistants to know
that they are there to take care one step further and “assist”
our clients with many aspects of their daily lives. Although
subtle, the title “Personal Assistant” facilitates
a very harmonious environment honoring both the client and
employee.

4. What is live-in care?
Live-in care is a cost effective
24-hour supervision solution, where the Personal Assistant
assists the client by day and is available to sleep in the
home at night for family and client comfort and peace of
mind. A live-in Personal Assistant does not actually reside
in the home. The HomeWell Personal Assistant has a residence
of their own and is paid a daily rate. About 40% of our
clients use live-in care.
